What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a method of orthodontic treatment using clear aligners designed to give you a straighter smile in shorter time than conventional orthodontics.  We at Littleton Family Dental recommend considering Invisalign to anyone who suffers from crooked teeth and misaligned bite problems. Treatment is custom-designed to suit each individual patient, and its comfort, ability to be removed, and compact nature are among the many reasons why so many patients are choosing Invisalign for their orthodontic needs and desires.

The connection between overall health and misaligned teeth

Many still think of orthodontic treatment as simply a way to esthetically correct crooked teeth. The truth is, studies have documented overall health risks that are significantly affected by the health of your teeth and gums. Problems that begin in your mouth can also increase your risk of:

  • heart disease
  • stroke
  • lung disease
  • diabetic complications
  • pregnancy complications
  • Alzheimer's Disease

What are the key features of Invisalign?

Everyone longs for a straighter and more esthetic smile! Conventional methods (metal brackets and wires) of treating orthodontic issues are less comfortable and less discrete. Invisalign advantages include:

  • Clear aligners are more discrete as they are clear and difficult to see when worn
  • Removable
  • Allows patients to self-maintain their oral hygiene
  • Compact in nature
  • Smooth finish
  • Metal-free
  • No wires or brackets
  • Less irritation to tissues
  • Less chair-time at the dentist's office
  • Faster and more accurate results
  • Boosts self-confidence
  • Offers a pleasing appearance

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign works by wearing trays(aligners) made of thermoplastic material that are custom-made for each patient from molds taken here at Littleton Family Dental.  Small attachments made from tooth-colored dental filling material are placed on certain teeth. The aligners are worn incrementally, shifting the position of your teeth slightly and precisely into ideal position. Each set of aligners is worn for 2-3 weeks, and then the next set is inserted.

Here at Littleton Family Dental, Vivera retainers are included in your treatment, as is complementary tooth whitening to brighten your smile!
